Riotech scientists, in collaboration with UK Health Security Agency Porton Down, Salisbury and the universities of Imperial, Texas (Galveston Branch) and Oxford have shown that their two lead PDE12 inhibitors have wide antiviral activity against RNA viruses in in vitro tests and against West Nile Virus in a mouse model. The viruses studied included dengue, hepatitis C, West Nile Virus and SARS-CoV-2. (see link below to publication in Journal of General Virology 2023).
Within the antiviral therapeutic range, no significant toxicity has been shown in rats and mice.
Studies are continuing for activity against additional virus groups.
